Feeling the Heart of the Psalmist
The Book of Psalms is a collection of raw human emotion directed toward God—joy, sorrow, rage, peace, desperation, and celebration. For thousands of years, these ancient songs have given voice to the deepest parts of the human experience. We have the lyrics, but none of the music.
Youngblood Music is a collective of Christian musicians committed to covering all 150 Psalms in a modern musical context. We're not just recording songs—we're attempting to capture the feeling of each psalm, to experience the heart of the writer as they approached God.
The range is vast. From Heavy Metal to Southern Rock (David was a Country boy from the South after all) to Worship to Contemporary Christian to Americana to Reggae to Country to R&B and others. Every genre serves the emotion of the text.

The Hiding Place is a full-length rock opera in the epic tradition of The Black Parade and Operation: Mindcrime. Twenty tracks weave together ten psalm songs with ten spoken-word interludes from David's first-person perspective, creating a seamless, immersive narrative journey through betrayal, exile, fear, and faith.
The Modern Metaphor: Saul is not just a jealous king—he's the embodiment of an oppressive system, relentless public shaming, the all-consuming internal voice of doubt. The wilderness is the landscape of depression and isolation. The cave is rock bottom—a confrontation with the darkest parts of oneself, leading to unexpected clarity.
